Eeeeek! I can’t believe January is almost over. I really had plans to get this article out earlier but, you know, life happened. We had a whole lot of sickness going on in our house this month. My little one (@fabfoodbaby) had an upper respiratory infection and I had strep. UGH! And, just when we started to feel better, we both got sick again. Please put us in a bubble….

Fab Review: Katana

October 11, 2018 by Contributing Writer

Fab Review: Katana // Tsukiji and Kani Maki // Photo: @topchicagoeatsKatana is celebrating their one year anniversary! It is a popular Japanese restaurant, which originated in Los Angeles and opened last year here in Chicago. The kitchen is led by chef Jose Melendez and Rob Juan. The trendy, modern vibe of the restaurant really suits the River North neighborhood. Katana markets its original location in L.A. as “the place to be.” They are on the right path to accomplishing the same for Chicago as well.

Fab Review: Raisu // Whole Red Snapper // Photo: Raisu Japanese Fine DiningRaisu opened in August 2017 in an unassuming location on Irving Park Road. Although they kept a low profile in the beginning, people are starting to notice the exceptional sushi they offer. Expect high quality fish that is beautifully presented.

Fab Happenings: Chicago Restaurant Week 2018

February 8, 2018 by Contributing Writer

Maki & Nigiri at Naoki // Photo: @topchicagoeats
It’s one of my favorite times of the year…  Choose Chicago‘s Chicago Restaurant Week. Over 370 restaurants participated this year with special prix fixe menus for brunch ($22), lunch ($33), or dinner ($44). Normally it runs for two weeks (this year: January 26-February 8) but they just announced they will be extending a few more days (until February 11 at select restaurants) to align with Chicago Theatre Week. Don’t miss your chance!

Fab Happenings: Top 10 Things I Ate in 2017 by Soo Park

January 11, 2018 by Soo Park

Roman-style Pizza at Bonci // Photo: @fabsooparkStarting at a very young age, food has always been an important part of my life. Whether it was sitting down and eating a meal together as a family or helping mom and grandma in the kitchen, it was always about sharing experiences through food. As a food blogger, sometimes I forget that it’s not about taking that perfect picture but about the people you’re with and the memories you make.
