Fab Happenings: Chicago's North Shore Restaurant Month 2018 // Elote Pizza at Grateful Bites // Photo: @fabfoodchicagoChicago’s North Shore Convention & Visitor’s Bureau is celebrating their 10th year of North Shore Restaurant Month. Every year, participating restaurants in the North Shore offer special dining deals for the whole month of February, except Valentine’s Day. Offers include 15% off guest check, FREE appetizer or dessert with a purchase of an entrée, and special prix fixe menus. It’s a wonderful way to try a new restaurant in the area or go back to your favorites.

Fab Happenings: Chicago Restaurant Week 2018

February 8, 2018 by Contributing Writer

Maki & Nigiri at Naoki // Photo: @topchicagoeats
It’s one of my favorite times of the year…  Choose Chicago‘s Chicago Restaurant Week. Over 370 restaurants participated this year with special prix fixe menus for brunch ($22), lunch ($33), or dinner ($44). Normally it runs for two weeks (this year: January 26-February 8) but they just announced they will be extending a few more days (until February 11 at select restaurants) to align with Chicago Theatre Week. Don’t miss your chance!

Fab Review: Brunch at Band of Bohemia

March 3, 2017 by Contributing Writer

Fab Review: Brunch at Band of Bohemia // Fried Chicken Breast, Fried Kennebecs, Brisket Cheese Steak, and Knot Bagel // Photo: @topchicagoeatsLocated in Ravenswood, Band of Bohemia is a unique, culinary brewpub, where chef-driven dishes are created to pair perfectly with culinary-inspired beers that are brewed in-house. The restaurant is also the first Michelin-rated brewpub. The concept was created by Michael Carroll and Craig Sindelar, who both previously worked at Alinea.

Fab Review: Forbidden Root

June 20, 2016 by Contributing Writer

Grilled Asparagus, Fried Giardiniere, and Gochugarou Chili Popcorn at Forbidden Root // Photo: @topchicagoeatsForbidden Root is an one-of-a-kind experience, as it is the first botanic brewery in Chicago. They aim to brew their beers from limited hop usage. Instead they use flowers, roots, herbs, and other natural ingredients. Along with the beers, they have a great food menu, which should not be overlooked. The dishes are primarily focused on local and organic ingredients and made to complement the beers. …

Fab Review: Meli Café 2015

October 15, 2015 by Contributing Writer

Photo: @vansventures at Meli's CafeOh, brunch time! It’s my favorite time of the day. On a day when you sleep in, this is the meal that can satisfy your hunger. Breakfast foods? Not a problem. Lunch? Also appropriate! As a person that loves fresh fruits and eggs, Meli Café makes some amazing dishes with these two ingredients. It’s almost the weekend so it’s the perfect time to start thinking about weekend brunch plans!
