Eeeeek! I can’t believe January is almost over. I really had plans to get this article out earlier but, you know, life happened. We had a whole lot of sickness going on in our house this month. My little one (@fabfoodbaby) had an upper respiratory infection and I had strep. UGH! And, just when we started to feel better, we both got sick again. Please put us in a bubble….
Katana is celebrating their one year anniversary! It is a popular Japanese restaurant, which originated in Los Angeles and opened last year here in Chicago. The kitchen is led by chef Jose Melendez and Rob Juan. The trendy, modern vibe of the restaurant really suits the River North neighborhood. Katana markets its original location in L.A. as “the place to be.” They are on the right path to accomplishing the same for Chicago as well.

Centennial Crafted Beer and Eatery is a new restaurant and beer hall in River North that opened up in early March. It is a gastropub with a focus on beer, which is paired perfectly with its chef-driven food menu. Centennial’s head chef is Ben Sheagren, who previously worked at Hopleaf in Andersonville for nine years.
