Fab Happenings: Chicago Restaurant Week 2018

February 8, 2018 by Contributing Writer

Maki & Nigiri at Naoki // Photo: @topchicagoeats
It’s one of my favorite times of the year…  Choose Chicago‘s Chicago Restaurant Week. Over 370 restaurants participated this year with special prix fixe menus for brunch ($22), lunch ($33), or dinner ($44). Don’t miss your chance!

Fab Happenings: Top 5 Food Trucks in 2016 by Senxeats

January 11, 2017 by Contributing Writer

Porky Fries from Lucy's // Photo: @senxeatsWhat a year it’s been! Lots of questionable and unfortunate things have happened in 2016, but Chicago’s food scene has continued to truck on (pun intended). I’ve been very grateful to be able to explore in greater depth the amazing food that Chicago has to offer, starting with Instagram back in spring and being so lucky to join the Fab Food Chicago team this past October. It’s always hard to make a list of the best things I’ve eaten, so I’ve decided to do a “Top 5 Food Trucks” list to narrow down my options.

Over the past few years, Evanston has experienced an influx of restaurant openings from farm-to-table concepts, to gastropubs, and everything in between, but one stands out to me above the rest…Peckish Pig….

Fab Happenings: Top 5 Dim Sum in Chicago Chinatown

November 23, 2015 by Contributing Writer

Rice Crepe Covered Fried Dough from Dolo// Photo: @vansventuresLet’s talk dim sum! You know you love it. These little small plates of heaven are made to be shared with friends and family since a couple of plates go a long way. As a child who grew up in a Cantonese family, I had dim sum almost every Sunday. Traditionally, dim sum used to be reserved for the weekends only, where we would get together with the extended family for some tapas style dining. Now, it’s transcended to the rest of the week and it can be enjoyed any day….

Fab Happenings: Top 5 Ramen in Chicago

September 30, 2015 by Contributing Writer

Photo: @vansventures at Ramen Takeya

The ramen scene has grown rapidly in the last few years and thank goodness for it! There’s just something about that hearty pork bone broth and its rich flavor that seems to strike the right chord with me.

Since I go out to eat ramen so often, I’m known as the #RamenQueen amongst my friends. There was a time when I ate it 7 times in 2 weeks! My absolute obsession for ramen is vast and always expanding. I am always down for a bowl no matter the weather. My favorite type of ramen is the tonkotsu because of its deep and complex flavors.
