Fab Happenings: Chicago Restaurant Week 2018

February 8, 2018 by Contributing Writer

Maki & Nigiri at Naoki // Photo: @topchicagoeats
It’s one of my favorite times of the year…  Choose Chicago‘s Chicago Restaurant Week. Over 370 restaurants participated this year with special prix fixe menus for brunch ($22), lunch ($33), or dinner ($44). Normally it runs for two weeks (this year: January 26-February 8) but they just announced they will be extending a few more days (until February 11 at select restaurants) to align with Chicago Theatre Week. Don’t miss your chance!

Roman-style Pizza at Bonci // Photo: @fabsooparkStarting at a very young age, food has always been an important part of my life. As a food blogger, sometimes I forget that it’s not about taking that perfect picture but about the people you’re with and the memories you make.

Lemon Pancakes, Cheddar Scone, Maple-Glazed Bacon, Avocado, and Strawberry Watermelon Cooler at Kingsbury Street Café // Photo: @topchicagoeats

One of my favorite weekend activities to do in Chicago is to try different brunch spots around town. But after I had my son, my brunch requirements changed. I didn’t want to stop brunching, but needed to find kid-friendly places. A children’s menu, good service and atmosphere are all qualities I look for now….

Fab Review: The Budlong

January 18, 2017 by Contributing Writer

Fab Review: The Budlong // Hot Chicken Plate and Biscuit // Photo: @topchicagoeatsSometimes all you have is a craving for fried chicken – and not just that fast food fried chicken that you might guiltily get once in a while, but some good fried chicken. The Budlong, which recently opened in Lincoln Park, right off the Armitage stop, might just be that place to sate this craving. Though you can grab some of this delicious Nashville hot chicken in The Loop at the Revival Food Hall, this dedicated brick and mortar brings an elevated yet homey feel to the food.

Fab Review: CRĪO

December 29, 2015 by Contributing Writer

The word ‘Gastropub’ is defined as “a pub that specializes in serving high-quality food.” Well, if there is one place that truly embodies every aspect of that definition, it would be CRĪO. CRĪO is one of my favorite brunch and dinner gastropubs, and even better? It’s located right in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. …
