Brunch is always a good idea, especially at Meli Cafe. The best part? You don’t have to wait until the weekend to have brunch food. Benedicts, French toast, pancakes, crepes, yogurt, and more are available all day, every day. Meli has three locations: Greek Town, River North, and Printer’s Row. Dinner is also served at the Printer’s Row location.

Fab Happenings: Chicago Restaurant Week 2018

February 8, 2018 by Contributing Writer

Maki & Nigiri at Naoki // Photo: @topchicagoeats
It’s one of my favorite times of the year…  Choose Chicago‘s Chicago Restaurant Week. Over 370 restaurants participated this year with special prix fixe menus for brunch ($22), lunch ($33), or dinner ($44). Normally it runs for two weeks (this year: January 26-February 8) but they just announced they will be extending a few more days (until February 11 at select restaurants) to align with Chicago Theatre Week. Don’t miss your chance!

Fab Review: Brunch at Mango Pickle // Goan Coconut Shrimp Curry and Chicken Wings "65" // Photo: @topchicagoeatsMango Pickle, in Edgewater, is a new restaurant serving contemporary Indian cuisine. It opened six months ago by husband and wife team, Nakur Patel and Marisa Paolillo. Paolillo is the chef at the restaurant. She lived in Bombay for nine years and worked at an American restaurant while she was there. When they moved back to Chicago, they wanted to incorporate their experiences from India into their restaurant concept here.

Fab Review: The Budlong

January 18, 2017 by Contributing Writer

Fab Review: The Budlong // Hot Chicken Plate and Biscuit // Photo: @topchicagoeatsSometimes all you have is a craving for fried chicken – and not just that fast food fried chicken that you might guiltily get once in a while, but some good fried chicken. The Budlong, which recently opened in Lincoln Park, right off the Armitage stop, might just be that place to sate this craving. Though you can grab some of this delicious Nashville hot chicken in The Loop at the Revival Food Hall, this dedicated brick and mortar brings an elevated yet homey feel to the food.

Fab Happenings: Top 5 Food Trucks in 2016 by Senxeats

January 11, 2017 by Contributing Writer

Porky Fries from Lucy's // Photo: @senxeatsWhat a year it’s been! Lots of questionable and unfortunate things have happened in 2016, but Chicago’s food scene has continued to truck on (pun intended). I’ve been very grateful to be able to explore in greater depth the amazing food that Chicago has to offer, starting with Instagram back in spring and being so lucky to join the Fab Food Chicago team this past October. It’s always hard to make a list of the best things I’ve eaten, so I’ve decided to do a “Top 5 Food Trucks” list to narrow down my options.
