Fab Recipe: Very Berry French Toast // Photo: @fabsooparkBreakfast is my favorite meal of the day. There’s nothing like waking up to a hot, almond latte and a stack of banana pancakes or cheesy eggs or a breakfast taco or… I can go on and on. I have a slight obsession with breakfast food and can eat it any time of the day, especially French toast. …

Fab Review: Brunch at Bar Lupo // Piedmont Pub Burger, Lupo Potatoes Bolognese, Fresh Burrata, and Brioche French Toast // Photo: @topchicagoeatsIf you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of River North, I recommend you walk past the touristy spots and head to Bar Lupo. Bar Lupo is an Italian pub that is upbeat and trendy. You won’t find traditional menu items as you would at old-school Italian spots. Here you’ll find snacks, pastas, and creative drinks with great music in a fun atmosphere.

Fab Review: Brunch at Mango Pickle // Goan Coconut Shrimp Curry and Chicken Wings "65" // Photo: @topchicagoeatsMango Pickle, in Edgewater, is a new restaurant serving contemporary Indian cuisine. It opened six months ago by husband and wife team, Nakur Patel and Marisa Paolillo. Paolillo is the chef at the restaurant. She lived in Bombay for nine years and worked at an American restaurant while she was there. When they moved back to Chicago, they wanted to incorporate their experiences from India into their restaurant concept here.

Fab Review: Currency Exchange Cafe

February 1, 2017 by Contributing Writer

Fab Review: Currency Exchange Cafe // Overview // Photo: @senxeatsThe history of Currency Exchange Cafe is in its name. The cafe’s space is repurposed from an actual currency exchange and retains many of the original hand-painted signs and remnants of its former life. Located in Washington Park by the Garfield Green Line station, the cafe strives to reflect the local culinary character of its neighborhood, serving a variety of Southern Soul and Mexican food. Currency Exchange Cafe is part of the Washington Park Arts Block, a collaboration with the University of Chicago aimed to engage local residents in art, entertainment, and education. The Arts Block also includes BING Art Books, the Arts Incubator, and the proposed Green Line Arts Center.
