Recipe type: Golden Green Smoothie
Cuisine: Smoothie
Serves: 1
Ingredients
  • 1 whole avocado (One is about 4-5 inches in height, should fit in your hand)
  • 1 stem of kale (With leaf, roughly ¼ cup of kale)
  • 1 golden delicious apple (Should fit in the palm of your hand)
  • 1 cup of ice (Use whole pieces of ice rather than crushed ice if you want a smoother consistency and less ice clumps)
  • ½ cup of 2% milk (Feel free to substitute for your milk of choice. Almond milk gives it a great nutty taste.)
  • 3 tablespoons of hot water
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 1 tablespoon of matcha (My brand of choice is Yamashiro Uji Matcha)
Instructions
  1. Slice the avocado lengthwise around the pit, keeping the seed intact. Twist to pull apart the two sides of the avocado. Take the side with the pit and put it in plastic wrap and place in refrigerator for later use. We will only be using half of the avocado for one serving.
  2. Scoop out the avocado that you will be using into the blender.
  3. Rinse kale stem and leaf. Add to blender.
  4. Cut apple in half, taking out the seeds and add to blend. Put other half in plastic wrap and place into the refrigerator.
  5. Add one cup of ice.
  6. Add half a cup of milk.
  7. Using a small bowl, mix the honey with a tablespoon of hot water making sure the honey is thoroughly dissolved. Add to blender.
  8. In another small bowl mix the tablespoon of matcha with the remaining hot water, making sure there are no clumps of matcha. Add to blender.
  9. Blend for 30 seconds to a minute or until desired consistency. I love my smoothies to be smooth with no ice bits.
  10. Pour into your cup of choice and enjoy!
Notes
FAB TIP: Make sure to use hot water for the honey! I noticed that the hot water made it easy to maneuver the honey so that it wouldn’t stick to the sides of the blender. Use hot water to mix the matcha as well, this will eliminate clumps of green tea powder on the sides of your blender and inside your smoothie! It also brings out the flavor of the tea!
