Brunch is always a good idea, especially at Meli Cafe. The best part? You don’t have to wait until the weekend to have brunch food. Fab Review: Katana

October 11, 2018 by Contributing Writer

Fab Review: Katana // Tsukiji and Kani Maki // Photo: @topchicagoeatsKatana is celebrating their one year anniversary! It is a popular Japanese restaurant, which originated in Los Angeles and opened last year here in Chicago. The kitchen is led by chef Jose Melendez and Rob Juan. The trendy, modern vibe of the restaurant really suits the River North neighborhood. Katana markets its original location in L.A. as “the place to be.” They are on the right path to accomplishing the same for Chicago as well.

Fab Review: Brunch at Ronero

March 30, 2018 by Contributing Writer

Fab Review: Brunch at Ronero // Arepa Benedict, Breakfast Cubano, and Sweet & Tart Waffles // Photo: @topchicagoeatsAs a food Instagrammer, I go to a lot of restaurants for brunch. After a while, brunch food can get repetitive. So I’m always looking for different cuisines and creative dishes that stand apart from the brunch norm. Ronero is the perfect spot.

Fab Review: XO Marshmallow

August 30, 2017 by Soo Park

Fab Review: XO Marshmallow // S'maco and Donut S'more // Photo: @fabsooparkXO Marshmallow, located in Rogers Park, is Chicago’s first marshmallow-themed cafe and dessert spot. It’s a wonderland devoted to ooey, gooey, fluffy, squishy, melt-in-your mouth marshmallow treats. Menu items include hot drinks like the Toasted Marshmallow Latte (need I say more?), iced drinks (frozen hot chocolate, anyone?), s’mores (think donuts and tacos) and more….

Fab Review: Brunch at Bar Lupo // Piedmont Pub Burger, Lupo Potatoes Bolognese, Fresh Burrata, and Brioche French Toast // Photo: @topchicagoeatsIf you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of River North, I recommend you walk past the touristy spots and head to Bar Lupo. Bar Lupo is an Italian pub that is upbeat and trendy. You won’t find traditional menu items as you would at old-school Italian spots. Here you’ll find snacks, pastas, and creative drinks with great music in a fun atmosphere.
