After ten years of business, there was an evident sadness felt amongst residents and loyal customers when news broke last November, that Small Bar was closing up shop. Small Bar was one of the better establishments on Division Street that served an excellent selection of food and craft beer. It didn’t take long before Heisler Hospitality (the folks behind Lone Wolf, Bar DeVille, and Sportsman’s Club) took over the space with Pub Royale. Smart move on their part since Pub Royale filled the void by opening a one-of-a-kind concept amidst the dive bars that dominate the Wicker Park area. It also serves patrons great late-night eats and fun cocktails….
The Gold Coast…just got a little more luxurious. We can’t help but give a warm welcome to the brand-new steakhouse, Maple & Ash, which opened on October 23rd. Three years in the making, Maple & Ash is pulling out all the stops to make sure you have a magnificent experience. I count myself lucky to be living in Chicago for many reasons. One of them is the endless amount of ethnic foods you can find here. Mexican food is definitely at the top of my list of favorites. After all, #TacoTuesday is an excuse to try out new taco joints and drink margaritas. So it is fitting to share my soft spot for Antique Taco, one of many taco joints in the bustling Wicker Park neighborhood….
Allende is one of those hole-in-the-wall places that you might pass over at first glance. I highly recommend you don’t or you’ll miss out on a treasure trove of authentic Mexican food. Although the interior design of the restaurant leaves much to be desired, Allende gives you great Mexican food for a price that won’t hurt your wallet….
Oh, brunch time! It’s my favorite time of the day. On a day when you sleep in, this is the meal that can satisfy your hunger. Breakfast foods? Not a problem. Lunch? Also appropriate! As a person that loves fresh fruits and eggs, Meli Café makes some amazing dishes with these two ingredients. It’s almost the weekend so it’s the perfect time to start thinking about weekend brunch plans!

Earlier this year, I took hubby to Juno for his birthday. He wanted great food in a casual environment. Juno was the perfect place. The food is always consistent and never disappoints. Chef B.K. Park is a master of his craft who takes the art of sushi seriously.
